Welcome from our Artistic Directors…
A warm welcome to Ironstone Chamber Music Festival website. We enjoyed another year of joyful music making in the stunning ironstone village of Horley during the Festival of 2016.
St. Etheldreda’s has the perfect acoustics and intimacy for Classical Chamber Music, and we shall be there for all the concerts on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th September 2017.
This year our main theme is French Chamber Music, and we have chosen works by Ravel and Debussy in addition to works by Mozart, Weber, Borodin and Villa Lobos.
We have invited three young and upcoming players in Maria Cecilia Mañoz, flautist from Argentina, Oliver Wass, a British harpist who has won a Gold Medal prize from the Guildhall school of music and Pablo Hernán Benedí a young violinist from Spain. In addition we are pleased to welcome back David Adams, leader of the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, and Robert Plane, principal clarinet with the National Orchestra of Wales. Both are steeped in chamber music too.
The Lunchtime concert on Saturday 9th September departs somewhat from the mainstream and we trust that you will enjoy this concert as well!
